The Diversity of Learning Styles and Academic Performance of Biology Students

Learning style has its insightful impact on the particular dimensions of teaching and learning process. Students have their own preferred way to recognize, retain retrieve information perform well in academic performance. The purpose this study is determine students’ preference styles correlation between performance among biology students one public universities Malaysia. A descriptive research design was employed using survey method analyse Perceptual Style Preferences Questionnaire (PLSPQ) developed by Joy Reid (1984) adopted distributed 130 students. Data gathered from PLSPQ identified preferences based six domains: visual, auditory, kinaesthetic, tactile, group individual. findings showed most were strong Visual learner acquired commendable CGPA ranging 3.00 3.49. However, present revealed a weak, negative very significant kinaesthetic (r= 0.304), visual 0.260) individual 0.189) due weak relationship both variables. Interestingly, gender difference found kinesthetic only. Also, there statistically Auditory who enrolled minor Chemistry Mathematics. It concluded that it important for lecturers cater different needs science be more interesting give positive For future study, large scale studies are recommended further investigation learners’ lecturers’ style.
